After working in various roles, Matt and Sam decided to actually live the phrase, ‘do what you love, love what you do’ and so here they are. A small (but perfectly formed) studio of two creatives – a graphic designer & a web developer whose combined skill ensures beauty of form and seamlessness of function.
This was a project for a client ‘Casati Gallery’ in Chicago. Casati had an outdated WordPress website which wasn’t mobile responsive. It was using Advanced Custom Fields and Custom Post Types. Our first job was to rebuild the site using modern coding techniques so that it was a fully functioning version of the current site. Once this was done we added in enhancements including woocommerce functionality and a wishlist as well.
We used custom taxonomies to easily display related items at the bottom of Product, Designer, Maker and Artist pages. These are easily changed on the backend by selecting different categories. Some of the filters we created have three variables which means the list can be super customisable.
The gallery wanted an easy way to blog and also to make the blog posts look professional. We used the flexible content field in the Advanced Custom Fields plugin to create different sections which are easily selected from a dropdown list. Included in this is an image field which displays differently based on how many images have been loaded up. If 4 or more images have been loaded up then it is automatically turned into a carousel.
We created a wishlist functionality for the site. The purpose of this was to allow the user to store items in a wishlist for easy reference as is normal with any wishlist, however the required twist on this was to put a form in the wishlist which would allow the user to submit the wishlist straight to the gallery. The form automatically captures the url for easy reference.
